Corporate Tone: What inspired you to start making music, and who were your early influences?
Chris Envy: My dad. He sang all the time and was in a group, so music was around me from the start. My early R&B influences were 2nd Look, Usher, Donell Jones, Blackstreet, Ginuwine—and a lot more. I took inspiration from all kinds of genres and soaked it in.

Corporate Tone: How would you describe your sound to someone who’s never heard your music?
Chris Envy: I’m R&B and Hip-Hop at the core. My voice has that R&B tone, and I pull from personal experiences—relationships, life, and anything that moves me creatively.

Corporate Tone: What was the first song you recorded, and what does it mean to you now?
Chris Envy: A remix of Keri Hilson’s “Pretty Girl Rock” that I flipped into “Pretty Boy Rock.” That track made me realize, yeah, I can really do this. It was the spark.

Corporate Tone: How do you approach writing or producing a song?
Chris Envy: I start with the beat, then imagine a scenario—like a movie in my head. If it’s based on real experience, it flows even faster. I write from a place of truth and personality.

Chris Envy: The business side. I love this so much I’d do it for free—but that’s a trap. I had to learn how to value my time, avoid scams, and find balance between passion and profit. You can’t survive broke.

Chris Envy: Any legend who truly believes in my artistry. I’m not chasing names—I’m chasing vibes and timeless music. But I do need a team to help get me in those spaces so I can stay focused on the art.

Chris Envy: I don’t compare myself to others. I remind myself that my path was tailor-made by God. I stay grounded in faith and remain a student of the game. It’s never “if,” it’s “how” and “when.”

Chris Envy: Confidence and self-worth. I write mostly for women. I want to offer them a male perspective on love, lust, and loyalty. I also want my music to help build relationships and conversations.

Chris Envy: I’ve got two projects out now—Springbr3ak lol 1 and a 3-pack EP. Plus, Juneteenth Live on June 18th at Levity Live in the Palisades Mall is going to be huge. We’ve got Talent the comedian, his son Talent Jr., Miss Jones, Jeff Redd, and Desi Comedy. I’ll be performing new material, and my new single “Are You The One” is dropping soon.

Chris Envy: I love comedy. That’s why I mix it into my shows. Most fans know the romantic side, but I’m big on energy and connection. I want my shows to feel like a full experience.
