Yung Gwapa is back and better than before. Southside Chicago heavyweight Yung Gwapa is set to release his fifth and highly-anticipated album, “NO,” after recently releasing the leading single “Jugg.”
The “Jugg” rapper started his roll-out process by releasing the music video for the street-enamored hymn, which has racked up about 150,000 organic views in just three months. In addition, Yung Gwapa is taking things to the next level, launching a 25-episode series also called “Jugg,” which will showcase his directing and film-writing abilities.
Gwapa has built his own legacy and reputation as a rapper, and has plans to continue and follow up the momentum this year with his upcoming project.
“If they really listen to my music and put two and two together, they will see I been around this music s–t for a while,” Yung Gwapa said in a recent interview.
Yung Gwapa is one of the most persistent hip-hop artists to grace the scene, and he has no plans of stopping any time soon. When asked about what audiences can expect from his future music, he answered:
“Growth and secrets, hunger, passion, and real authenticity.”
Yung Gwapa began his musical career in a group in Chiraq, where he continued to pursue his ambitions of making it big in music. His consistency has lent him an audience who has been invested in his career and eager to see what’s coming next.
The eccentric artist would later make his professional debut in 2015 with I Can’t Help It, a collaborative effort with Club da CookUpBoss, before releasing his first single with O.T.S in 2016, which contained fan favorite “Fucc You Thought” with Takeoff & Juugman.
Blac Youngsta, Rich The Kidd, Eastside Peezy, and Icewear Vezzo, to mention a few, all contributed to O.T.S, which became a street favorite thanks to features from some of the most promising performers shaping the Hip Hop soundscape. In an interview with Rolling Out, Yung Gwapa discussed why he likes working with Atlanta artists — and a few years later it’s easy to see how the projects exemplified the Atlanta street vibe that spawned a slew of regional Hip Hop artists, both in terms of production and musicianship.
Yung Gwapa’s album Re-Rock would be released in 2018, and by his fourth body of work, he would have established himself and his own independent record label, Black Heart Music, allowing him to operate as a CEO in the music industry, and sign the burgeoning rapper GSambo, who has made a name for himself by working with acts like Asian Doll.
Following a three-year hiatus that included quarter-backing G Sambo’s music career, acting and filming, as well as his popular clothing line Richnigh The Brand, Yung Gwapa will release his long-awaited project, which is expected to be another street classic with some mainstream pop appeal and massive surprise collabs.
