Influenced in his creative process by Hip-Hop Legends such as Krs-One, Nas, Jay-Z, Tupac, and groups like The Ruff Ryders and Dip-Set, York Ill developed his own unique freestyle capabilities by combining his Trap experiences in the streets, which led to his multiple incarcerations.
He is a gangster conscious MC, and preceding his solo debut, York Ill was a member of the Bern City Soldiers and remains an active member of the Blaq Pyrates. In January 2021, York Ill started his own Record Label & Publishing Company named Light Vibez LLC & Light Stylez.
