With Best Regards – A Sonic Love Letter from Khao$ & DJ VooDoo Child

In a culture that often prioritizes speed over substance, the emergence of With Best Regards feels like a breath of raw, reflective air. This collaborative body of work from South Carolina rapper Khao$ and producer/DJ VooDoo Child is not just a project—it’s a mirror. It reflects a journey through heartbreak, healing, discovery, and personal evolution, packaged in emotionally immersive soundscapes that are as nostalgic as they are forward-thinking.

The alliance between Khao$ (Tyrel Mack) and VooDoo Child (Darian Bethea) sparked in March 2024 and quickly became a creative force. The synergy between Khao$’s gripping storytelling and VooDoo Child’s lush, layered production has birthed a genre-blending experience that refuses to be boxed in. Their first two singles—“Motion Picture” and “Me & My Girlfriend”—set the tone for what’s to come. These aren’t tracks made for passive consumption. They demand emotional participation. They are cinematic, intimate, and intentionally vulnerable.

“Motion Picture” plays like a scene ripped straight from the pages of life—moments frozen in time, captured with lyrical clarity and sonic precision. It’s a song that speaks to the idea that every fleeting experience, every triumph and tragedy, is part of a bigger story. Khao$ writes like someone who’s survived storms and come out sharper, and VooDoo Child underscores that resilience with a beat that pulses like a heartbeat—steady, reflective, alive.

“Me & My Girlfriend” dives even deeper. On the surface, it’s a love song, but as the layers peel back, it becomes clear that the “girlfriend” is more than a person—it’s a metaphor for duality. It’s the struggle between vulnerability and survival. Between clinging and letting go. The lyrics ache with introspection, while the production sways between delicate soul samples and haunting modern textures. It’s music that stays with you long after the last note fades.

At the center of this project is transformation. Khao$ doesn’t just rap; he reveals. Formerly part of the collective S4G, he has now stepped into his own light, bringing with him a deep awareness of what it means to grow publicly while grieving privately. His stage name—King Has Arrived On Scene—isn’t about ego; it’s a declaration of rebirth. Every bar feels like a conversation between his past self and the man he’s becoming.

VooDoo Child, meanwhile, operates like a time-traveling architect. His production bridges eras, seamlessly mixing soul and funk influences with cinematic arrangements and modern bounce. There’s intentionality in every snare, warmth in every synth. He crafts beats that don’t just sound good—they feel necessary. The kind of production that forces you to pause, rewind, and feel again.

With Best Regards isn’t built to chase trends. It’s built to last. It’s the kind of album that reminds us that hip hop, at its best, isn’t just performance—it’s testimony. It’s a medium for healing, for connection, for truth. As the duo prepares to drop their next single in May 2025, it’s clear they’re not just creating music—they’re curating moments.

This project is a love letter to evolution. To growing up without losing your soul. To embracing chaos while still choosing clarity. It’s the sound of two artists who aren’t afraid to tell the truth—and who are brave enough to make it sound beautiful.
