Update 07/01/2020 8:32pm:
The drama surrounding August Alsina, Jada Pinkett-Smith, and her husband Will Smith was a much talked about topic on social media last night.
After August Alsina claimed that he was involved in a romantic relationship with Jada and had the “blessing” of her husband Will to pursue the bond, his claims were summarily refuted by Jada herself and by Will, who, according to The Sun, said (through a representative) that Alsina’s claims are “wrong.”
Update 07/01/2020 12:35pm:
August Alsina made headlines after claiming in a recent interview with Angela Yee that he had a years-long relationship with Jada Pinkett-Smith, and he added that Will Smith knew about and gave his blessings to August and Jada. August stated, “I actually sat down with Will and had a conversation due to the transformation from their marriage to life partnership … he gave me his blessing.”
Jada Pinkett-Smith reacted to the interview, telling Page Six that Alsina’s claims are “absolutely not true.”
During the recent interview, August also revealed that his relationship with Jada had some negative effects on his life. He explained, “And I also don’t think that it is ever important for people to know what I do, who I sleep with, who I date … but in this instance it is very different because as I said, there are so many people that are side-eyeing me, looking at me questionable [sic].
“I have lost money, friendships, relationships behind it and I think it is because people don’t necessarily know the truth. But I have never done anything wrong.”

While interviewing with Angela Yee, singer/songwriter August Alsina spoke about his past romantic relationship with Jada Pinkett-Smith. According to August, the relationship was okayed by Will Smith as he and Jada’s marriage transitioned into a life partnership. “I actually sat down with Will and had a conversation … He gave me his blessing,” he said.
“And I totally gave myself to that relationship for years of my life, and I truly and really, really, deeply loved and have a ton of love for her (Jada). I devoted myself to it. I gave my full self to it. So much so that I can die right now, and be OK knowing that I fully gave myself to somebody … Some people never get that in this lifetime.”
August continued, “This conversation is difficult because [it’s] hard for people to understand. But once it starts to affect me and my livelihood, I have to speak up about my truth … Walking away from it butchered me … It almost killed me. Not almost. It did—it pushed me into being another person … It broke me down … It probably will be the hardest thing I ever had to experience in this lifetime. It’s difficult because I never want to be the person to cause confusion or step on toes, but I want to honor myself and I want to honor my authenticity. And if honoring my authenticity means you hate me, stone me, shoot me, crucify me, whatever, bury me an honest man.”
