Mellox (pronounced mellow — the “x” is silent) is the Concrete Rose. Born and raised in Memphis, Tennessee, the creator has mastered his environment, and has prevented his environment from mastering him.
“Being from Memphis definitely makes you strong and built for anything,” Mellox said.
Mellox doesn’t point towards a certain artist or artists as inspirations; rather, he is influenced by music as a whole.
“Before I ever decided to pick up a pen and write, just listening to music helped me get through life,” he said. “Music has always been my escape from reality. So, later on, I chose to make my own music and tell [people] life from my point of view.”
Out of all the songs in Mellox’s catalog, a standout is “Fuckin With Me” — a RunnitupKel-produced, Thankaaron-engineered track that serves as both a mindshift change and a departure into a new sonic realm.
“The inspiration behind ‘Fuckin With Me” was just me coming to a realization that being too humble gets you nowhere,” Mellox said. “I feel like I wanted to show people that I’m here to make my presence known.”
“I feel this is my favorite song because it definitely makes a statement with the flow I chose and the lyrics,” he continued. “This song was a turning point for me because, with the visual and the song together, it gave people more of me to see.”
The versatile Mellox is nowhere near finished with his mission. He’s working on expanding himself as an artist and a brand with increasing performances and new marketing and promotion strategies.
“Of course I’m going to continue creating great music, and the videos [will keep] getting better,” he said. “I want to have a solid fan base and just be able to give people all around the world a view of me through my music.”
