Twon Brady has been around; the Buffalo, New York-born artist spent a sizable chunk of his childhood in Frederick, Maryland before relocating to Augusta, Georgia and truly beginning his creative journey. He is three songs into his adventure, and his latest track “Spiderverse” is brimming with uniqueness and an energy not seen in many other rappers.
The track — if you couldn’t already guess it — was inspired directly by the latest installment of the Spiderman movie franchise “Spiderman: Across the Spiderverse” and its incredible soundtrack.
“My fiancé and I went to see [the movie] when it came out and the soundtrack stuck with me,” Twon Brady said. “Later that night, I came up with the idea to write a song as if I was featured on it.”
“I wrote my part in about five minutes, called my cousin, and told him to finish the second half,” Twon added.
That cousin is close artistic collaborator Jayhaan, who has also appeared on the Twon Brady track “Can’t express.” Creativity seems to run in Twon’s family; his father also makes music under the name sunstr8nice and was the one who first encouraged Twon to start making music, he says.
“I would say artists in the game [that influence me] are LARussell, Lil Wayne, Juice WRLD, J. Cole and Lil Yachty,” he elaborated.
As for his next moves, Twon is planning on dropping a mixtape titled Dead or Alive which is directly inspired by the Dragon Ball Z. Fans should be ready to hear ten songs with three features on the project, Twon said.
Whether he’s hopping across the Spiderverse, making animé references or anything in between, Twon Brady is definitely an artist you need to keep an eye out for. With his combination of creativity, relatability and overall unique vibe, it’s only a matter of time before he finds success in whatever he pursues.
