Buffalo, New York, is bringing the heat with a new release from Therealskitso, who delivers a bi-coastal hip-hop collaboration with serious lyrical firepower. His latest single, “Mercy,” unites Styles P, M.O.P. (Billy Danze and Lil Fame), and G-Funk pioneer Kokane over a soulful, hard-hitting production that stays true to the gritty essence of hip-hop.
Produced by Therealskitso himself, “Mercy” showcases his versatility behind the boards, balancing soulful textures with the raw energy that defines the genre’s enduring appeal. With seasoned lyricists delivering their signature intensity and Kokane bringing his unmistakable vocal presence to the chorus, the track connects different generations and regions of hip-hop through one cohesive sound.
“Mercy” Sets The Tone For The Asylum Vol. 1
Serving as a leak from Therealskitso’s forthcoming album, The Asylum Vol. 1, “Mercy” builds anticipation for a project stacked with respected voices from across the hip-hop landscape.
The single follows previous releases, including “Fired Up” featuring Project Pat and “Well Connected” featuring Tha Eastsidaz and Kokane. The latter earned additional exposure with airplay on BET Jams and helped extend Therealskitso and Kokane’s reach through an appearance on Roxanne Shanté’s Have A Nice Day show on Rock The Bells via SiriusXM.
The upcoming album is shaping up to be an impressive showcase of collaboration, with additional appearances from Cormega, Phat Kat, Guilty Simpson, Pete Rock, Westside Gunn, 38 Spesh, Devin The Dude, Berner, and more.
A Celebration Of Hip-Hop’s Raw Essence
With “Mercy,” Therealskitso brings together established voices from New York, the West Coast, and beyond without sacrificing the rugged sound that makes the record stand out. The result is a soulful yet unapologetically gritty release that celebrates lyrical craftsmanship, distinctive production, and the power of collaboration.
As anticipation builds for The Asylum Vol. 1, Therealskitso is making it clear that his production extends beyond regional boundaries. With an expanding roster of notable collaborators and a sound rooted in hip-hop tradition, the Buffalo producer is positioning his forthcoming album as one to watch.
Nonetheless, “Mercy” is another reminder that when heavyweight lyricism meets soulful production, hip-hop doesn’t need permission to make noise. If you’re really rocking with the new release, it’s available for digital purchase. Lastly, let us know your thoughts in the comments here at 24Hip-Hop.
