The Meaning Behind the Madness – Vayreni on His New Project

Vayreni has always been an artist unafraid to push boundaries. Whether it’s through his gritty bars, provocative visuals, or emotional depth, he stands apart from the crowd. His new project, I’ve Decided to Quit Rap and Become a Serial Killer and 6 Feet Deep, has already generated plenty of buzz due to its intense title and dark themes. It’s the culmination of years of artistic growth, from the bedroom studio in Currituck, North Carolina, to collaborating with Osiris Productions on projects like The Forbidden Fruit Project and Premonition. Now, as he gears up to release his latest project, Vayreni is diving even deeper into uncharted territory, both sonically and thematically. But what exactly does this new album mean for him, and why is he choosing to explore such bold concepts?

The I’ve Decided to Quit Rap and Become a Serial Killer and 6 Feet Deep title may seem outlandish, but for Vayreni, it’s a reflection of his disillusionment with the industry and his desire to break free from the usual expectations. Drawing inspiration from his personal life, his battles with mental health, and his experiences in the chaotic world of hip-hop, the project marks a shift in his narrative. But while it may seem like a rebellious act, there’s also a deeper layer to the title and the music within.

The UrbanSound team got to sit down with Vayreni to discuss this bold new direction, and here’s what he had to say.

UrbanSound: The title of your new project is incredibly provocative and intense. Can you walk us through the inspiration behind I’ve Decided to Quit Rap and Become a Serial Killer and 6 Feet Deep? Is there a deeper meaning to the name, or is it meant to challenge expectations?

Vayreni: Yeah, the title definitely gets people’s attention, but it’s not just shock value. It’s the culmination of everything I’ve been feeling about the industry lately. 6 Feet Deep was a turning point for me. It speaks to the way I feel about the game, especially after everything that’s happened in the last year. The title I’ve Decided to Quit Rap and Become a Serial Killer doubles down on that theme—it’s me saying, “I’m done with playing nice; I’m going all in.” It’s a mix of real frustration and just testing the waters with something different. I’ve seen artists like Panic! at the Disco and $uicideboy$ get creative with long titles, so I thought, “Why not go big with mine?”

UrbanSound: How does this new project differ from your previous work, both sonically and thematically? What are you hoping to explore or express that you haven’t yet in your past releases?

Vayreni: I’ve always tried to stay true to myself in my music, but this project is different because I really took my time to make sure everything was perfect. I’m 100% happy with it. I went back to my roots—hard-hitting bars, no filler. No more singing, just raw, unapologetic rap. In the past, I was still figuring out what I wanted to say and how I wanted to say it, but now, I feel like I’ve really tapped into something special. I wasn’t holding back at all. The energy is high, and it’s me just speaking my mind with no filter.

UrbanSound: You’ve worked with Osiris Productions on many of your projects. How did your collaboration evolve for this new tape? Did you experiment with new sounds or techniques this time around?

Vayreni: Osiris has really stepped up his game, especially since we’ve both been kind of living in different places now. The distance actually made us push harder, which I think brought out the best in both of us. I can’t speak for Osiris, but for me, I stripped everything down to the core. I wasn’t trying to make anything for the radio or anything polished. It’s all raw. Even the cover art and song titles are pure expressions of where I’m at mentally. It’s all part of the vibe—no boundaries, just pure emotion.

As Vayreni prepares to release I’ve Decided to Quit Rap and Become a Serial Killer and 6 Feet Deep, he continues to push the envelope both in terms of his music and his personal narrative. With each project, he gets closer to finding his truest self and sharing that with his audience. Fans can expect this new project to be just as unapologetic and boundary-pushing as the artist himself.

Stay tuned for more music, and in the meantime, check out his previous releases.
