The Game Loses Appeal in $7.1 Million Sexual Assault Case

A California appeals court has rejected The Game’s latest challenge in the long-running legal fight over a $7.1 million judgment awarded to Priscilla Rainey.

The Game has lost another appeal tied to the $7.1 million Priscilla Rainey judgment, keeping the years-long collection battle against the Compton rapper in place. The California appellate court rejected procedural arguments raised by Jayceon Taylor, according to Complex, which reported on the ruling issued Thursday, August 27.

The latest challenge centered on how Taylor was notified of proceedings in the California enforcement case. He argued that the judgment should be vacated because Rainey did not mail the court’s order for publication to his known address and also raised objections concerning the summons, but the appellate court found the summons substantially complied with state law and determined that Rainey was not required to mail him the publication order.

The dispute traces back to Rainey’s 2015 sexual battery lawsuit against Taylor following an alleged incident during production of VH1’s She’s Got Game. A federal jury later found Taylor liable and awarded Rainey $1.13 million in compensatory damages and $6 million in punitive damages, with the judgment subsequently confirmed at $7,130,100.

Taylor did not attend the 2016 trial, and his earlier effort to overturn the verdict was rejected by the Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals in 2019. That ruling left the jury’s award intact, setting the stage for a prolonged effort by Rainey to collect the money she was awarded.

Rainey’s collection efforts have since reached several assets connected to The Game. She previously gained control over his Prolific Records label and royalties from his 2019 album Born 2 Rap, while a 2021 lawsuit alleged that approximately $6.8 million of the judgment remained unpaid.

The legal fight also expanded to Taylor’s Calabasas property. In May 2025, a Los Angeles County Superior Court approved the sale of the home as part of Rainey’s effort to satisfy the judgment, and the latest appellate decision leaves another key piece of that collection effort standing as the decade-long dispute continues.
