The Game has answered Rick Ross’ sales taunt with jokes, an edited album cover and a sharp reminder that their long-running rap tension is still very much alive.
The Game responded Friday after Rick Ross used the first-week performance of The Documentary III to compare their latest releases. The Compton rapper mocked Ross’ Set In Stone and wrote, “It ain’t one person on this earth listening to this walkin’ drumstick’s album.”
Game’s Instagram post included an edited version of the Set In Stone artwork that turned Ross into a chicken drumstick, along with a clip of DMX discussing Ross’ music and image in an older interview. He also urged listeners to play Ross’ album so they could hear “exactly what not to do,” before adding, “When yo legs match yo body, let’s rap!”
The response came after Ross highlighted the opening-week numbers for The Documentary III, pointing out that Game’s album debuted at No. 68 on the Billboard 200 while Set In Stone opened at No. 39 in July. Ross specifically noted Game’s high-profile guests, including Drake and Ye, and argued that his own project still posted the stronger chart showing despite what he called a “stimulus package.”
According to XXL, The Documentary III moved 14,806 album-equivalent units in its first week, compared with 19,214 for Set In Stone. Ross paired the comparison with a message for Game to “keep hustling,” saying the West Coast still needs him and encouraging artists not to let sales dictate how they create.
The exchange is the latest chapter in a rivalry that already had history before these albums arrived. Game previously targeted Ross during the Miami rapper’s feud with Drake, while the new sales debate gives both veterans another opening to trade public shots without a new diss track yet entering the mix.
The Documentary III, which arrived as a surprise release in August, features Drake, Ye, Lil Wayne, Snoop Dogg and other major names. Game closed his latest post by directing attention back to the album, while Complex reported that Ross later appeared to answer the attack by posting a video of himself laughing on Instagram Stories.
