I grew up in Stockdale, Texas and was raised by my grandparents.

Growing up I was really into skateboarding and acting.

My childhood dream was to be a famous actor/movie star.

I graduated from Stockdale Highschool 2009. I graduated with my Bachelor’s Degree in Audio Production from the Los Angeles Film and Recording School 2024.
How did that impact your career?
My Bachelor’s Degree has greatly impacted my career by providing me the ability to create, mix, and master my own music. It also gave me more inside knowledge on the industry and standard practices for producing quality audio. I made a lot of connections as well.
Who has mentored you in your career?
Some of my earlier mentorship came from producers and promoters I met in San Antonio when I started performing. Savoy Smith is a producer at Icee studios, Ken Lewis is a Promoter with Bubble Entertainment, Charles Lewis, an Artist and Promoter with Blaq Vamp. Later mentorship would be from professors at LARS (Los Angeles Recording School) by Jimmy Fahey, an Educator/Engineer (large format consoles), and Chuck Paris (Sean Macleod) a Producer and Educator.

My profession is a Rap/Hip-Hop Producer, I’m also a long time Artist.

I currently have a song with artist Nino Brown which is the most played track and an unreleased feature from artist T-Rell. I have performed on stage with artists J-Dawg Houston, Kirko Bangz from Houston, Bone Thugs n Harmony, and King Kyle Lee from San Antonio.

No brand collaborations besides a brand ambassador for fitness company Bucked Up, health and fitness supplements.
Where were you living when you first started your music career?
I was living in Stockdale, Texas when I first started my career.
What was the title of the first project you created, and when was it released?
My first project was a mixtape called Southern Comfort which released on YouTube, January 28th 2015. This was my first time stepping into a recording studio with purchased beats.
What new projects or recent projects have you done or working on?
I’ve recently dropped 3 singles on all streaming platforms Pressure, Ain’t I, and Indecisive. I’m currently working on a mixtape called “Trippy Takes” set to release fall 2025. This will be my first full project fully produced and recorded by myself. I also mixed and mastered albums Blaque Swuan and Blaque Swuan 2 for Texas Artist Rehsor One, streaming on all platforms.

One of the first events I took part in was a Coast to Coast show during South by Southwest in Austin Texas and Club Cielo 3/20/15. I also performed at the first Rokour Tour in Houston Texas at Club Cielo 2/2/2016 where I was the event winner.

I am currently working on new material to perform, expected to return to performing this fall 2025.

Through my career I’ve l lived in Stockdale, San Antonio, San Marcos, and New Braunfels in Texas, as well as Santa Ana, and Vista, California.

I am currently residing in Santa Ana, California.
Where did your stage name originate from?
My stage name originates from a combination of my childhood nick name John John and last letter of my last name (John Jay). However, I’ve also adopted the producer name John Wayne since moving to California 5 years ago. Another big alias would be TheTrippyTexan, a Social Media influencer and streaming personality.
