T-Pain’s high-dollar road trip to Monterey Car Week briefly hit the brakes when Nevada Highway Patrol stopped the Koenigsegg convoy he was traveling with.
T-Pain was pulled over while driving his roughly $3 million Koenigsegg Regera during the automaker’s Ghost Squadron Tour, according to Complex. The nearly 300-mile run stretched from Lake Tahoe to Monterey, California, with around 30 Koenigsegg models traveling together as part of the group.
The convoy was led by Koenigsegg founder and CEO Christian von Koenigsegg, while T-Pain and his Nappy Boy Automotive crew joined the drive in his Regera. Footage from the trip showed the singer realizing a Nevada Highway Patrol officer was approaching, prompting him to say, “Hopefully he’s not too mad,” before adding, “He’s pissed off.”
The stop appears to have ended without a major incident. T-Pain’s license was checked, and reporting on the encounter does not establish that he was cited, arrested or accused of a crime, keeping the roadside moment more in line with an unexpected interruption than a legal problem.
T-Pain also joked about the performance advantage of the hypercars surrounding him, saying, “I tell you, if we decide to fucking leave and run right now, they will not catch us.” The officer later told the group, “You guys have been cool with me,” as the encounter wound down.
The Ghost Squadron Tour featured an eye-catching collection of the Swedish manufacturer’s cars, including examples from the Agera, Jesko, Gemera, CC850 and CCX lines. T-Pain’s Regera is one of only 80 examples produced, and the model is known for combining extreme performance with a grand-touring focus.
After the traffic stop, the convoy continued toward Monterey, where T-Pain and the Nappy Boy Automotive team attended Motorlux at the Monterey Jet Center. The trip also gave the crew an early look at Koenigsegg’s CCGT1, a track-focused machine powered by a 1,600-horsepower twin-turbo V8.
