Backstreet Gamers will join the Global Gaming League as the group searches for players to represent its new team.

The Backstreet Boys are entering competitive gaming with a new team called Backstreet Gamers. Announced October 29, the venture makes Nick Carter, Howie Dorough, AJ McLean, Brian Littrell and Kevin Richardson celebrity owners in the Global Gaming League.

The group is looking for players to represent the team rather than presenting a finished competitive roster. Its announcement directs prospective competitors toward the league’s GGL Primes platform and its DRFTSZN selection process.

The league already includes teams associated with T-Pain, Ne-Yo and Flavor Flav. Rolling Stone reports that its four-player teams compete at live events across different games, with titles ranging from Call of Duty and Rocket League to Pac-Man and Donkey Kong.

That mix makes this different from joining a league dedicated to one game. GGL describes an online progression system through farm and minor leagues, with the opportunity to be drafted onto a celebrity-owned major team.

The musical connections are already visible in the league’s early events. Rolling Stone reports that T-Pain’s Nappy Boy Grizzlies faced Ne-Yo’s Gentleman’s Gaming at September’s Season Zero launch in Las Vegas, where Ne-Yo won a Tekken matchup.

For Backstreet Gamers, the next step is recruiting the people who will actually compete. The launch establishes the ownership and team identity, while the player search turns the group’s existing audience into a potential pool of participants rather than spectators alone.
