Stream Mick Jenkins Barcelona
Boasting a respectable body of work under his belt, it’s safe to say that Mick Jenkins would likely have the majority of rappers shook to collaborate.
Though not quite a household name, Mick has been quietly out-rapping many talented lyricists, bringing forth an abstract and occasionally comical perspective to the fold. Now, with his upcoming album set to drop on October 26th, Mick has come through with a new dark banger called “Barcelona.”
Setting an ominous tone, Mick sneaks over the beat with a dexterous flow. Taking subtle shots at played out lyrical trends, Mick deviates from the plan with a relentless barrage. “I’m no n***a with dreams of bussin’ all over your girl, that’s belittling,” he raps, “bigger schemes we’ve been scribbling, notice it’s plural, dividends trickle in.” His jazz influence is reflected in the track’s unconventional, free-flowing structure, which gives this one a distinctive “stream of consciousness” aura, befitting of Mick’s poetic sensibilities.
With Pieces Of A Man arriving on Friday, it seems like Mick is intent on setting the week off right. The Chicago lyricist has already delivered another new single, the Ghostface Killah assisted “Padded Locks.” Be sure to check that one out right here.
