Starfsh is an artist who creates from instinct, emotion, and lived experience. Based in Texas, Starfsh began releasing music around 2020, but the connection to sound started much earlier. Music has been a constant since the age of five, long before it became a public pursuit. When Starfsh finally began creating seriously, it was during a very dark period of life, and music became a way to process thoughts, memories, and moments that had nowhere else to go.
Rather than fitting neatly into one genre, Starfsh describes the sound as Industrial Breakcore, a raw fusion that feels like a Frankenstein blend of EDM and metal. The music is aggressive, chaotic, and intentional, pulling energy from multiple worlds at once. There is melody, distortion, rhythm, and tension all existing in the same space. It is the kind of sound that feels just as at home in a warehouse rave as it does on a metal stage.
Starfsh plays piano and a bit of xylophone, which adds an unexpected layer to the music. Those foundations show through in the structure and atmosphere of the tracks, even when everything feels intense and explosive. Inspiration comes from a wide range of sources, including classic video game soundtracks like Pokémon and Sega era games, as well as artists like Nine Inch Nails, The Browning, and Machine Girl. That mix of digital nostalgia and industrial heaviness is a core part of the Starfsh identity.
Live performance has always been a major part of the journey. Starfsh’s first real show was at a rave, opening for four other DJs and running with that group for a while. From there, the performances expanded beyond one scene. Starfsh began creating personal shows and performing across different cultures, including metal shows and other rave spaces, breaking the boundaries between audiences that do not usually overlap.
One of the most meaningful moments in Starfsh’s career came through a fundraiser show. After losing a close friend last summer to a heart infection, Starfsh helped organize a benefit that raised over one thousand dollars to support the family with funeral costs. That night became more than just a performance. It was proof that music could bring people together in moments of grief and turn sound into something that genuinely helps others.
Recently, Starfsh released Celestial Vol. I, the first installment in a three-part EP series. The project sets the tone for what is coming next, packed with high energy tracks that reflect both emotional depth and sonic experimentation. With the next two Celestial EPs currently in the works, the momentum is only building.
Looking ahead, Starfsh is preparing for a potential show in March and plans to release Celestial Vol. II very soon. With a sound that refuses to stay in one lane and a story rooted in real experience, Starfsh is carving out a space that feels both chaotic and intentional, heavy and emotional, digital and human all at once.
