Emerging from the vibrant streets of East Los Angeles, Pulsar Radio is a band that fuses the cosmic wonder of 70s Space Rock with the raw energy of Punk and Alternative music. The group is made up of N8 Hassan on vocals and guitar, Fabiola Pimentel on keys and vocals, and Frank Pharr on bass guitar. Together, they have created a sound that is as expansive as the universe itself.

N8 Hassan, originally from Rhode Island, is a classically trained percussionist who has toured with notable bands such as Christian Death, Red Elvises, and Outernational. He has also collaborated with Bun The Floor and Blue Man Group. Currently finishing his degree in Recording Arts and Commercial Music, N8 specializes in music production and live sound engineering. Fabiola Pimentel, born and raised in East LA, brings her punk rock background to the band with powerhouse vocals and melodic keyboard playing. Frank Pharr, also from LA, anchors the group with his bass guitar and has been a dedicated member for over two years.

The band was formed in 2020 during the pandemic, initially as a duo with N8 and Fabiola performing small acoustic shows across Los Angeles. Their early performances featured a mix of percussion, acoustic guitars, keys, and vocals. The band expanded in 2023 with the addition of Frank on bass and later welcomed Justin in the spring of 2025. Pulsar Radio draws inspiration from the vastness of space and the pioneering sounds of David Bowie, Pink Floyd, and T Rex. Their name comes from the pulsar star, a celestial body that emits rhythmic radio waves and beams of light, symbolizing guidance and cosmic connection.

Musically, Pulsar Radio blends Space Rock with elements of Punk, Metal, and Shoegaze. Their influences range from The Cure, Bob Dylan, and Johnny Cash to Muse, Soundgarden, and Social D. Their sound is immersive and multidimensional, taking listeners on a journey through rhythm, melody, and cosmic consciousness.

Pulsar Radio has released multiple recordings including their first EP Interstellar Sunday in May of 2022, the single Mother Earth on Earth Day in 2023, and their latest EP Father Skye on Earth Day in 2025. They are currently in the studio finishing another EP titled Mother Earth, set for release in October of 2025. Father Skye stands out as a milestone in the band’s evolution, while songs like Interstellar Sunday, Sea of Dreams, and We Are Not Alone from their first EP hold special significance as some of the first compositions N8 and Fabiola wrote together. Their music video for We Are Not Alone, a collaboration with stop motion animator Jeremey Mowery, was a year-long labor of love.

The band has delivered memorable performances at iconic venues including The Viper Room on the Sunset Strip, The Rainbow Bar, the Making Music Museum for Make Music Day, and opening for punk rock legends The Adolescents at the Work Famous Doll Hut in Anaheim.

Pulsar Radio’s philosophy is rooted in connection and positivity. Their music aims to remind listeners that they are never alone, whether on Earth or in the universe. Through their art, they hope to inspire a sense of cosmic unity and contribute to protecting our planet. Their future goals include opening for nationally touring acts, touring Europe and Japan, and continuing to expand their reach through both live and online performances. This summer they have a series of local shows in Downtown LA, Ontario, and Santa Clarita, followed by a live recording session at Clear Lake Recording Studio in Burbank and special EP release events in the fall.

Fans might not know that N8 began his career as a drummer with bands such as Christian Death, Red Elvises, and Outernational, and has worked with Chad Smith and Tom Morello. Pulsar Radio was also featured in the A Great Day in East LA exhibit at La Plaza in downtown Los Angeles alongside artists like Los Lobos, Richie Valens, and Alice Bag.

Before performances, N8 enjoys an ice-cold pint of Guinness to calm his nerves. The band sometimes dons space flight suits for fun and has a tradition of walking on stage to the music of The Beastie Boys. Collaborations with musical legends like David Bowie, Prince, Kurt Cobain, Chris Cornell, and Robert Smith remain a dream, reflecting the diverse influences that shape their sound.

Pulsar Radio invites listeners to join them on a journey through sound, space, and the rhythms of the cosmos. Their music is a beacon, reminding us that we are all connected, and that even in the vastness of the universe, we are never truly alone.
