The French series returns with Assane Diop behind bars and a copycat threatening the future he hoped to reclaim.

Lupin Part 4 arrived on Netflix on October 23, with all eight episodes available together. Omar Sy returns as Assane Diop, whose latest story begins four years after the previous installment.

Assane is still in prison and intends to finish his sentence. His aim is to reunite with his family in Senegal, but someone else begins carrying out museum thefts under the Lupin name.

The copycat’s actions pull him back into the world he wanted to leave. In Netflix’s outline of the new story, Assane must escape to identify the impostor and clear himself.

The cast also includes Ludivine Sagnier, Antoine Gouy and Soufiane Guerrab. Shirine Boutella, Théo Christine and Laïka Blanc-Francard appear alongside them in the new installment.

Music has long helped connect the series’ contemporary world with its literary roots. In a 2023 Netflix interview, composer Mathieu Lamboley explained how his earlier scores combined hip-hop with classical strings and orchestral writing, reflecting Assane’s modern relationship with Maurice Leblanc’s books.

Lamboley also described building distinct character themes and varying them as scenes and relationships changed. That earlier account offers a useful window into the musical foundations of Lupin, alongside the disguises and carefully staged deceptions that define Assane’s adventures.
