Nicki Minaj says she has no plans to apologize for supporting President Donald Trump, describing him as grounded and easy to connect with during a new Fox News interview.
Nicki Minaj is standing by her support for President Donald Trump. During a Sept. 18 appearance on The Ingraham Angle, the rapper was asked how she responds to criticism surrounding her increasingly public relationship with the administration, and she answered, “Absolutely nothing.”
Minaj said she is honored to work with the administration and described Trump as smart, fun and grounded, adding that she believes he makes people feel heard. “I just love him,” she said, adding that she does not intend to make excuses for that position. The interview came as Minaj discussed her role as a judge for the U.S. Small Business Administration’s Million Dollar Pitch Competition. The SBA said the Sept. 18 finale in Washington, D.C., featured five entrepreneur finalists competing for a combined $1 million prize pool, with Minaj serving on the judging panel alongside Grant Cardone and Joe Gebbia and Dean Cain hosting.
Her latest comments continue a public show of support that became especially visible earlier this year. At the Trump Accounts Summit in Washington on Jan. 28, Minaj called herself the president’s “number one fan” and said criticism had not changed her position; that appearance is available in the White House video archive.
Minaj also drew a line between her political views and her live shows. She said she does not plan to turn her concerts into political events, framing them instead as spaces for fans to have fun and make memories, while also indicating that another tour would follow her next body of work, whose timing has not been announced.
