Self-produced sensation Justin Calderon is someone with a lot on his mind and a lot of ways to get his thoughts out. A prime example is “The Passion,” the New Jersey native’s latest track which was composed and produced by the man himself, and to boot, its accompanying video was directed by him too.
From a listener’s perspective, you can tell the track is special to him, with the lyrical content coming straight from his real life experiences.
“A lot of my life was spent working all over Jersey and [New York City],” Justin said. “I’ve fallen in and out of love, made and lost friends, and provided for myself and loved ones through rough circumstances.”
“I just wanted to vent,” he added.
Justin Calderon is self-assured and confident in himself; his gravelly voice flows with ease on “The Passion,” and by keeping his birth name as his artist name, he’s remaining true to who he is.
“I want to present myself authentically,” he said. “I don’t want an alter ego.”
That authenticity is shown directly in the video for “The Passion,” where Justin is seen solemnly strumming a guitar in a park in front of the Statue of Liberty, paying homage to his roots in both New Jersey and New York.
What’s next for the man who can seemingly do it all? He’s continuing to elevate his craft and reach his highest potential by bringing all his skills — whether it be music, production or videography — to the table. Also, you best believe that remaining himself is high up on the list.
“[I plan on] creating more honest pieces of work independently or with like minded people,” Justin Calderon said. “I want to tell my story while I can…There’s a lot to unpack from my experiences and that of the people around me.”
