Looking to leave her mark on 2026, Nath Tavares looks to spotlight her recently released single, ‘OBDN’t Overachiever’ as she prepares for a wave of new music to make waves across the industry. An anthem that pokes fun at swapping your time for money, raising shareholder value, the track looks to cement Nath as a rising star, turning heads in the process.
About the Single:
Dancing between hip-hop and alt-pop, ‘OBDN’t Overachiever’ lands as a tongue-in-cheek anthem that sparks both fun and fear about the ever-lurking nine-to-five. Sporting pounding percussions, atmospheric toplines, and a whole load of wit, the single looks to bolster Nath as a rising creative talent.
Speaking on her personal influences behind the single, Nath explains, “I have always been one to follow rules, doing exactly as I was told and rarely questioning authority. I idealised work, consistently put all my energy into being the best team member until I burned out, and naively believed managers and colleagues had generally altruistic intentions. However, as I grew older, I realised this was not the case, and questioned my people-pleasing tendencies and the purpose of my hard work – especially since I wasn’t reaping the rewards.”
Adding, “OBDN’t Overachiever explores these themes in an upbeat and humorous way, poking fun at myself and the messed-up working society we live in. I wrote this song one afternoon while playing with my brand new Arturia Minilab, and made a silly video to go along with it. It was a fun experiment for sure!”
About the Artist:
Nath Tavares is a singer-songwriter whose musical path has been shaped by living across multiple cultures. Born in Brazil and raised in Mexico, China, the United States, France, and Portugal, she brings a broad perspective to her work. Her sound blends theatrical storytelling with contemporary Latin, urban, and pop influences.
Music has been central to Nath’s life from an early age. By preschool, she was confident it would shape her future. At nine, shortly after moving to Mexico, she was selected to perform in a Mexican National Anthem choir competition, demonstrating her ability to adapt across cultures. By fifteen, she had written and produced her first album, which remained unreleased due to another international move. She continued performing in theatre productions such as Aida, Kiss Me, Kate, and Thoroughly Modern Millie.
Alongside her creative life, Nath built a career in digital innovation and AI, studying at USC, MIT Sloan and INSEAD while working internationally. Still, the pull toward music never disappeared. Now based in Portugal, she is returning to it with renewed focus, looking to forge a creative 2026 as she leads up to the release of a new album. Showing no signs of slowing down, she looks to channel her trademark artistic vulnerability and wit, turning existential questions into creative self-direction.
