Nearly a year after receiving a first look at the live-action Mulan remake, the first teaser trailer is finally here.
Directed by Niki Caro (2002’s Whale Rider), 2020’s Mulan follows the same plot of 1998’s animated version, which was of course based on the centuries-old Chinese legend of Hua Mulan. Starring Yifei Liu as the eponymous character, Mulan follows a young woman as she breaks tradition and enters the men-only Imperial Army to help China fight northern invaders. On her quest to be a warrior, Mulan fights to earn the respect of her nation and her ailing father.
Alongside Yifei Liu, the cast includes Donnie Yen as Commander Tung, Jason Scott Lee as Böri Khan and Yoson An as Cheng Honghui, with Gong Li as Xianniang and Jet Li as the Emperor.
Disney‘s Mulan is slated to hit theaters March 27, 2020.
