Meet Upcoming Label & Business Group “Top Flight The Brand”

Most major things are done by a group effort whether in the shadows or in the open. Top Flight originated as Flight Squad in 2014. Founders Abu Da Don and SpiffyBoyDanny started the Flight Squad as a simple friend group, which evolved into what is now known as Top Flight The Brand. Abu and Spiffy, both being raised in Nashville, met at an early age and have been close friends ever since. The brotherhood took them from Pre- School to present day. They both attended Tennessee State University together, where they would use the Top Flight brand to host events and parties. It wasn’t until March 2020, quarantine, when Top Flight The Brand as a label was formed. It started off as just Abu , Spiffy and Warren Kashh in Warren’s home studio. Abu recorded his first album in Kashh’s studio and later on that year is when they all decided to add more talent to the label. Everything from there led to the talented roster they have now. We got to connect with Top Flight & ask them a few questions about there come up!

1. How much do you guys enjoy working as a group?

“We love it. A lot of us have known each other for a long time but the ones that we just met when the label formed, feel like lifelong friends. We are a big family. The energy we all bring is different so it fits well together.”

2. Describe how a Top Flight studio session would normally go! How do you guys set the vibe to get started

“Abu always comes in with some “Bu Juice” to start off his sessions. We make our sessions a mini party. Everyone comes in ready to work and have fun. Producers have cook up sessions while the artists record. Plenty blunts a flowing. Plenty liquor a pouring. We make sure we are in a comfortable zone because that’s when we all make our best music and are able to freely try new things musically.”

3. How’s the energy heading towards your first debut album as a unit “Flight Szn” What can we expect from this project?

“All hands on deck. Flight SZN is an introduction to the Top Flight sound, showcasing our rising stars line up. We hope Flight SZN will help expand and bring sunlight to all of the Top Flight artists. As a label, we are trying to build a Powerhouse in the Nashville Hip Hop scene and then expand to an even bigger market.”

4. As a unit what are the top 3 things you guys stand by?

“Ambition , dedication , teamwork”

5. What are some things you guys have coming up here in the near future?

“We have so much unreleased music in the vault that it’s crazy. So be on the lookout for singles and tapes coming soon. Abu da Don and SpiffyBoyDanny are booked for the Kodak Black and Friends Concert at the Bridgestone Arena on Aug 12th. Maxx Dbl X is scheduled to Perform at the Dive Motel in August. He also has a few other shows in the works as well as Abu, Cardo and Gio.”
