Luis Chalas Jr, but my stage name is King Lo and I’m from a small town in Central New York called Syracuse. I’m one of 5 children in my family a middle child actually. Growing up I always had a lot of love for music I listened to all the greats coming up in the 90’s and always played around with the idea of becoming a HipHop artist myself one day. But it really wasn’t until a few years ago that I actually decided to double down on the idea and really go for it as a career. I’ve tried a lot of different styles and approaches while I was trying to find myself and what my style would be and it was all trial and error up until recently I guess I could say I’ve found it. My blend of Raw hip hop lyrics with a unique melodic twist has proven to have an effect on listeners and is really helping me build my fan base.

I’m sure your success has not come easily. What challenges have you had to overcome along the way?

Yea it’s true what they say nothing worth having comes easy. I’ve really had to overcome a lot of battles within myself and with others to get to where I’ve gotten so far and it’s only the beginning. I’ve dealt with doubt and depression and I’ve dealt with that feeling where you want to just give everything up because it’s not going the way you thought it would go. But fighting through all of it has proven to be one of the smartest things I could have ever done because it’s all starting to come together for me now.
Like they say, it gets greater later.

What’s your best piece of advice for readers who desire to find success in their life?

The best piece of advice I could give is simply to never ever ever give up no matter what. You could give your all for years and the day you want to quit is the day you could make it so just keep pushing at whatever you do and it will all pay off. Chase your dreams and don’t let anyone else ever tell you that you can’t do something.

Let’s talk about the work you do. What do you specialize in and why should someone work with you over the competition?

It took a while for me to find what my strengths or qualities were but I’ve found my own style my own lane and it’s a raw blend of hip hop with a twist of a melodic dancehall type feel that gives off good vibes and makes people want to party and dance on repeat. A lot of people want to work with me simply because I give a different vibe than most artist can offer today, it’s more than just gangster or drill rap with me and I don’t come with that feeling of looking over your shoulder or possibly being in a beef that could jeopardize anyone. It’s all good vibes with me so that’s what really sets me apart and makes me special especially in times like these where hip hop has gotten so competitive past the lyrics and people are actually getting hurt behind music.

Speaking of success, what does the word mean to you?

Success to me means accomplishing the goals you set for yourself whether they are big or small. Of course making money as well as a name for yourself fits In there somewhere but the best feeling is knowing you did what you set out to do. So many people go through life without completing things they wish they’d had. So to me success means just that. Accomplishing your greatest desires completing your biggest goals.

What’s next for you?

I plan to keep shooting for the stars and aiming for the moon, I’m still at the beginning of my journey and thought I’ve accomplished some goals I still have a long list to get through. So I will keep going keep releasing music and keep building my fan base and kicking down as many doors as it takes to get where I need to be.

Finally, how can people connect with you if they want to learn more?
