Lunden Benard Revives the Golden Era of Hip-Hop with "Step Into My Zone"

Portland-born and Atlanta-based hip-hop artist Lunden Benard (@lunden09) is making waves with his debut single, “Step Into My Zone.” Officially released on September 9, 2024, the track has quickly garnered attention for its nostalgic sound, which harks back to the golden era of hip-hop from the late ’80s and early ’90s. With this release, Lunden is aiming to close out the summer on a high note, offering listeners a refreshing blend of old-school beats and lyrical depth.

Growing up in Portland, Oregon, and now living in Atlanta, Georgia, Lunden’s musical journey has been shaped by a mix of his upbringing in the church and his love for classic hip-hop records. “I’m a big fan of 90s Hip Hop,” Lunden shares, “and my influences derive from that era. From De La Soul’s ‘3 Feet High and Rising’ to Eric B. and Rakim’s ‘Paid in Full,’ those records moved the needle in a way you don’t see much today.”

“Step Into My Zone” serves as the lead single from Lunden’s upcoming debut album, set to release next spring. The single is a perfect introduction to Lunden’s style—infused with the energy and soul of hip-hop’s most influential era while bringing a modern twist. The music video for the single, which can be found on YouTube, further emphasizes his dedication to authenticity, featuring visuals that complement the track’s throwback vibe.
