Lil Durk Neighborhood Hero Video
Lil Durk is making sure his upcoming album, Signed to the Streets 3, is certified Grammy material. Ahead of the forthcoming project, XXL has the scoop on a brand-new video from the LP. After making noise with his “Spin the Block” collaboration with Future, the Chicago native is fueling the hype for the third installment of his popular album series by dropping his new video for “Neighborhood Hero” today (Nov 2).
“Neighborhood Hero” is a heartwarming song dedicated to preserving the heart and soul of his city by any means necessary. Although he’s recently relocated to Atlanta, Durk is still heavily invested in his hometown of Chicago. Durk drops a motivational visual for the song that focuses on everyday people in Chi-town, from high school football players on the field to a young businessman making a few dollars selling candy on the train. These are the true neighborhood heroes.
“Don’t gotta prove no point nigga, we know/And wherever that drama at, we go/I’ma be the neighborhood hero/We the neighborhood heroes,” Lil Durk raps. While Durk never expected to be a hero in the rap game, he understands he has a legion of supporters looking up to him. “It feels good to be in a place now where I can give back to my community,” the rapper tells XXL.
“Coming from I’m from, I never expected to be looked at as a hero but it feels good to inspire kids who look up to me now and think, ‘If Durk can do it, so can I.’ I want to continue to uplift and that’s why I formally set up my non-profit earlier this year, called Neighborhood Heroes. In addition to setting up turkey drives and backpack drives again, we are going to be doing bigger and better things. More to come, stay tuned.”
Recently, XXL chopped it up with the Alamo Records signee about parting ways with Def Jam earlier this year and the making of STTS3. Durk reveals that he’s worked with several major names like Future, Ty Dolla $ign and Young Dolph as well as the newest viral rap stars like Gunna, Lil Baby and Juice Wrld. He also says that he wants his next album to qualify for a Grammy nomination.
“I definitely just want to get back to my mood,” Lil Durk said about STTS3. “I wanna get the streets riled back up. I wanna get super tours and bookings. Even Grammys, they doing tapes at the Grammys. I don’t wanna put no limit to it.” Signed to the Streets 3 drops Nov. 9.
