LeBron James has officially launched a golf-focused YouTube channel, opening the project with a feature-length look at the 10-year reunion of the Cleveland Cavaliers’ 2016 championship team in Scotland. The debut episode, titled “The 2016 Cavs 10-Year Reunion Golf Scramble,” brings James back together with Kevin Love, J.R. Smith, Richard Jefferson, Tristan Thompson and Channing Frye. The video gives viewers an extended look at the group’s reunion while introducing a new platform centered on James’ growing interest in golf.
The former teammates take their competition to Castle Stuart Golf Links at Cabot Highlands, where they split into two teams for a three-on-three scramble. James, Jefferson and Love face Smith, Frye and Thompson as the round mixes golf with the same banter and chemistry that followed the Cavaliers throughout their title run. According to Complex, the outing also includes wine, stories from their Cleveland years and plenty of trash talk between the former teammates.
The launch gives James a dedicated home for content built around his life on and around the golf course rather than treating the sport as an occasional social-media post. His team plans to release golf-themed videos monthly, with future episodes expected to cover competition, travel, local culture, food and other parts of his experience with the game. The move comes after James spent the past year increasingly discussing, watching and playing golf while continuing to develop his own game.
James has described golf as both a competitive challenge and an escape, and he has placed his handicap in the low 20s as he continues learning the sport.
