Independent hip hop artist Kota the Friend is set to hit the road for his No Rap on Sunday Tour, bringing his acclaimed album to stages across the U.S. The tour begins Thursday, August 28 in Tampa, Florida, and concludes with a powerful Brooklyn homecoming on October 16, which also happens to be Kota’s birthday.
More Than Music: A Full Campaign
For Kota, every project is bigger than the music—it’s a full campaign. No Rap on Sunday includes an album, tour, merchandise, and a concept that speaks to his loyal fanbase. The album became one of his biggest successes to date, first offered exclusively to his most dedicated listeners through early access on the EVEN platform. This rollout gave fans the opportunity to connect deeply with the project, cementing Kota’s reputation as one of the most innovative independent voices in hip hop.
As Kota explained in his announcement on NYC Newswire: “Every project I drop is more than just music—it’s a way to connect with my people on a deeper level. With No Rap on Sunday, I wanted to give fans something special from day one, starting with early access and extending into this tour.”
Empowering Independent Artists: The Verse Challenge
To further connect with the community, Kota launched the No Rap on Sunday Verse Challenge, where independent artists across the country were invited to record their own verse for the project’s title track. In each city, winners will not only open for Kota during the tour, but they will also get something even rarer—a feature verse from Kota on their next release.
“This is about shining a light on independent artists who are out here grinding just like I was,” Kota told NYC Newswire. “If I can help them get seen and heard by new audiences, then we all win. I’m especially excited to jump on a track with the winners and keep building together.”
The challenge highlights Kota’s mission to uplift and amplify the next generation of artists.
