Perth-based rapper KiD CROOK, born Rico Rojas, is emerging as a powerful and authentic voice in Australian hip-hop, blending raw storytelling with a mission-driven message. Known for his unflinching honesty and high-energy performances, CROOK isn’t just a name—it’s a reflection of a life lived on the edge and a determination to turn pain into purpose.

The name “CROOK”, derived from the word “hook”—meaning bent or curved—symbolizes a path that’s anything but straight. For KiD CROOK, this curved journey represents moral ambiguity, struggle, and ultimately, transformation. Having been incarcerated and released in 2021, his story is one of resilience, accountability, and personal growth.

Since his release, KiD CROOK has wasted no time building momentum. He dropped his debut project, “tha Bad Guy EP,” alongside his first unofficial music video and a string of powerful singles. These releases have helped solidify his place in the underground rap scene and attracted attention for their emotional weight and lyrical craftsmanship.

Street Smarts with a Purpose

A self-proclaimed product of the streets, KiD CROOK is candid about his past involvement with crime and addiction—but more importantly, he uses his platform to advocate for mental health awareness. His music serves as a reflection of his own battles and a beacon for others navigating similar struggles.

“I’ve been through hell and back—mentally, physically, emotionally. If my words can stop someone else from going through what I did, then I’ve done my job,” says CROOK.

A Sound That Cuts Deep

His lyrical content often centers on the darker realities of life: mental illness, crime, drug use, trauma, and redemption. His intricate rhyme schemes and unfiltered delivery set him apart as a storyteller with both edge and empathy.

“tha Bad Guy EP”

KiD CROOK’s debut EP, “tha Bad Guy,” dives headfirst into his life experiences—painting vivid scenes of turmoil, regret, and self-discovery. Each track is a chapter, capturing the internal battles of a man who once wore the villain label, now using his voice to heal and rebuild.

On Stage & In the Booth

Known for his high-energy live performances, KiD CROOK brings raw emotion to every show, weaving together powerful verses with intricate flows that captivate crowds and leave a lasting impression.

Collaborations & Community

KiD CROOK has also collaborated with other rising voices in the scene, including Seuss Mace, further expanding his reach and credibility. These partnerships reflect his commitment to growth, unity, and elevating the voices of those with real stories to tell.

From the prison yard to packed venues, KiD CROOK’s journey is one of redemption and purpose. With music that cuts through the noise and a message that resonates with the unheard, he’s not just rapping—he’s rewriting his narrative.
