Khalid’s “Better” hits No. 1.
After spending 10 weeks at No. 2 on the Billboard Hot R&b Songs Chart, Khalid’s “Better” track has finally moved up to No. 1, replacing Ella Mai’s “Trip,” which charted at the top for the past consecutive 14 weeks.
It now marks Khalid’s second No. 1 on the chart with his “Young, Dumb & BRoke” accomplishing the feat for 11 weeks in 2017-18. Streaming numbers play the biggest role in the 2-1 climb for Khalid with the track pulling in 17.1 million U.S. streams in the week ending January 10th.
It’s also enough to keep him at No. 1 on the R&B Streaming Songs chart for the second week in a row with a gain of 19 percent.
The track also bleeds over on the Pop Songs airplay chart, remaining at No. 19 with a 6 percent jump in radio play over the week. With its new numbers, “Better” also returns to its No. 12 peak on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart.
Elsewhere on the Hot R&B Songs chart, Khalid occupies three more slots with his “Saturday Nights” sitting at No. 9, while the Ty Dolla $ign and 6LACK collab moves back into the top 10 at No. 10. It previously peaked at No. 6. Additionally, his solo “Suncity” clocks in at No. 25 for the week.
“Better,” “Saturday Nights,” and “Suncity” are all found on Khalid’s Suncity EP, which currently sits at No. 2 on the R&B Albums chart, where Ella Mai’s self-titled debut claims No. 1.
