Joyner Lucas No Longer With Atlantic Records

Joyner Lucas parts ways with his label.

Joyner Lucas is officially a free agent and he doesn’t seem to be interested in joining anyone else’s roster anytime soon. It was on Sunday that the rapper took to Twitter to reveal that he was no longer signed with Atlantic Records.

“The face of a 2x Grammy nominated, platinum selling, stress free rich n-gga,” he penned in a tweet. “Did I forget to say I’m now 100% [independent]?. which means im no longer signed to ATLANTIC.”

Lucas asserts that things have ended on good terms, noting that Atlantic is a “great record label” with “great people.”

“I just wanted to be back on my [Independent] wave,” he adds.

Under his time with Atlantic, Joyner dropped off his 508-507-2209 album and made waves with his viral “I’m Not A Racist” visual, which earned him one of those referenced GRAMMY nominations for Best Music Video.

The other one comes from a guest verse on Eminem’s “Lucky You.” The deal was first set into motion in 2016, but it looks like Joyner got his fill of the label route and as he notes, is ready to get back to doing things on his own terms.

Just this week, Lucas also revealed that he was done with press/media runs, citing what he deems to be disrepsect from members of the press, even bringing up the time Peter Rosenberg was flipping through his phone when he interviewed Lucas.

“I’m all set with interviews,” he announced. “It seems like the agenda is to make us look crazy for ratings and views. Less is more.”
