Ivy and the Poison is a multidisciplinary music-theatre project created and performed by Netta Toledano. Rooted in emo-punk and alt-rock, the project tells the story of Ivy, a fictional character navigating the aftermath of a psychologically abusive relationship. The songs are original, emotionally intense, and guitar-driven — standing on their own musically while also building a cohesive narrative arc. The show blends live music with spoken monologues, resulting in a one-woman performance that feels like a cross between a punk concert and a theatrical confessional.
Musically, Ivy and the Poison is influenced by artists such as My Chemical Romance, Avenged Sevenfold, Chappell Roan, Mitski, and Regina Spektor — combining gritty angst, powerful vocals, and sharp emotional storytelling. The live experience also carries the self-aware theatricality of Bo Burnham, infusing the performance with humor, irony, and a deep emotional core. Each song reflects a different phase in Ivy’s journey — from obsession and codependency to betrayal, collapse, and eventual liberation.
The project is being actively performed and developed in New York City and has also been presented internationally in Israel. It continues to evolve, with new songs and story elements added regularly. The show is currently being booked at intimate venues and performance spaces across NYC, with plans to expand to larger stages and festivals.
Beyond the live show, Ivy and the Poison has music available on Spotify and SoundCloud, including a full-length demo album that captures the project’s raw emotional core. Select live recordings and visual content also help bring Ivy’s world to life across platforms, with additional releases currently in the works.
A concept album and a full-length stage piece are in development, with festival submissions and international touring plans on the horizon.
While fictionalized, Ivy’s story is drawn from Netta’s own real-life experiences, allowing the work to explore difficult emotional themes — trauma bonding, love addiction, emotional manipulation — through a raw but crafted lens. The result is a hybrid project that merges theatrical performance with emotionally driven music, offering something fresh and emotionally resonant within the alt and emo-punk scenes.
