Irv Gotti Believes NFL Made JAY-Z ‘Look Like a Pawn’

Irv Gotti is one of the many celebrities to comment on Jay-Z‘s recent partnership with the NFL, and Gotti believes his longtime friend his being made to look like a pawn.

During an interview with Page Six, the Murder Inc. boss shared his thoughts on the highly-publicized deal between Roc Nation and the league.

Gotti told Page Six, “To sit there and watch Jay talk [at their recent, widely publicized meeting] while Roger Goodell is sitting there quiet, it almost looks like the NFL manufactured and manipulated Jay to be the front and face of the bulls**t, knowing Jay is so powerful that he can make people forget about [Kaepernick and others] kneeling.”

Last week, the NFL and Roc Nation announced their partnership for a music and social justice campaign. JAY-Z will consult on entertainment, including the Super Bowl halftime show, and contribute to the league’s social-justice program, Inspire Change.

Gotti went on to say that he thinks it’s “a brilliant move for the NFL,” adding, “If it was a masterminded plan, then you just used Hov for a masterminded plan and made him look like a pawn in this whole f**king thing.”

Jay does have some industry supporters like Cardi B, who said recently that she believes Jay will make a difference.

“I think that he can make a change,” she explains. “I don’t think he went [in] on an NFL deal without an agreement…I feel like he went in there like, ‘Alright, if y’all want me to work with y’all, y’all need to bring my peoples in there.’ ”
