CHICAGO (AP) — YP (Yvng Pierre), a rising rapper from Chicago’s Back of the Yards neighborhood, is making waves in the music industry with his versatility and raw talent.
The 20-year-old artist, who has been performing since he was a kid and making music since he was 9, released his first single in 2020. But it was in 2022 that he started taking his music career seriously, and he hasn’t looked back since.
“I feel like I can be the next big thing out of Chicago, just based on my versatility alone,” YP said. “I’ve been grinding nonstop since I decided to pursue music seriously, and I’m ready to take my career to the next level.”
YP’s hard work is already paying off. One of his singles, “No Hook,” has reached 30,000 plays on Spotify and was trending on TikTok. He’s also set to drop his debut music video soon, and he’s gearing up to release the official audio track in a couple of weeks.
Despite his early success, YP knows that promotion is key in the competitive music industry. “Getting my music heard and having enough reach for people to hear it, that’s the biggest challenge,” he said. “But I’m doing whatever it takes to get my name out there and build my fanbase.”
YP’s dedication and perseverance are evident in his goals for the future. “In a few years, I see myself selling out shows and arenas, topping the Billboard charts, and winning platinum and gold records,” he said. “I’m ready to put in the work day in and day out, from sunrise to sunset, to make my dreams a reality.”
With his talent, drive, and growing fanbase, YP is definitely an artist to watch in the coming years.
