His journey into music began organically, as he recalls, “What inspired me to make music is something I can’t even explain; it came naturally. I just loved music from the start and eventually wanted to create it myself. The more I’ve grown, the more I get to express myself through my music, and it just keeps getting better and better.”
While Guwapo Bandz primarily creates rap music, he admits to having a deep passion for R&B. His approach to songwriting often revolves around storytelling, which he considers one of his best techniques. “I’m usually an aggressive type of rapper, but I can also come off melodic. I describe the speed bumps I’ve overcome and the goals I’m determined to accomplish,” he explains.
When it comes to his creative process, Guwapo Bandz thrives on inspiration from various sources. “It really depends on the beat for me, but I can use anything to get creative—like the beat title, something I might have done that day, or a lesson I’ve learned. Once I get that initial spark, it’s up from there,” he shares.
Cultural influences also play a significant role in shaping the types of beats he chooses, while his artwork reflects his day-to-day life. “I understand that everyone has been through something, and there’s always another perspective. I just do me, knowing the people meant for me will find me based on what I speak about. I like to catch all angles while still giving my point of view,” he adds.
Guwapo Bandz’s storytelling style mirrors that of a book or movie, with rising action and relatable narratives. He enjoys detailing simple or challenging days he has experienced, making his music authentic and impactful.
The artist acknowledges the influence of modern technology and social media on his career. “The new technology has definitely made me step out of my comfort zone, and I’m cool with it. I think it’s a great time to pursue what you love,” he says.
However, he faces challenges as an artist, particularly in the realm of patience. “Letting things flow naturally is sometimes out of my control. When I experience writer’s block, I feel it’s a sign that I need to get out and live more or learn about new things,” he explains.
In his latest song, “Stuck,” Guwapo Bandz candidly addresses the hardships he has overcome to keep his music career alive while dealing with relocation and the doubts of others. “I give a rundown of my struggles and how I pushed myself through to get to where I’m at now,” he reveals.
As for marketing and business, Guwapo Bandz is committed to continuous learning. “It takes a lot, and I’ve tried various strategies. But it shows my determination; I don’t quit when things don’t return in my favor. As long as I continue to be myself and push good energy, I believe the connections I’m looking for are on the way,” he asserts.
Currently, Guwapo Bandz is focusing on singles, with plans to drop a project later this year, though he hasn’t settled on a title yet. Looking ahead, he envisions touring and collaborating with prominent artists, ultimately creating meaningful connections through music. “I see the journey being real impactful at the end of the day,” he concludes.
