What first got you into music?
“It all started when I was 12 years old, hanging out with my cousins during cyphers. I used to watch them spit verses, and being a poet myself, I felt like I could do what they were doing.”
Where are you from and what is the music scene like?
“I hail from Chicago, IL. The music scene there is incredibly diverse, ranging from drill music to the profound lyricism of artists like Common, and myself. However, the Bay Area has also left its mark on me, and you can definitely hear that influence in my music.”
How would you describe the music that you typically create?
“My music is a blend of Cardi B’s energy, Lauryn Hill’s soulfulness, and the storytelling prowess of Kendrick Lamar and J. Cole.”
What is your creative process like?
“Usually, I’ll vibe with a beat, either freestyling in my car to catch the melody or visiting my executive producer Breedsworld, who challenges me to push past my comfort zone with my pen.”
How has your creative process evolved over the years, and what have been the driving factors behind that evolution?
“Initially, I used to write everything down, but now I prefer to freestyle based on how I feel. Music, to me, is all about capturing a vibe and emotion. So, instead of focusing solely on lyrics, I let myself experience the emotions first.”
