Getting to know music artist Lexí

Tell us about you:

My name is Alexis Walker but I go by Lexí and I’m from Dallas ,Texas. I love music because not only is singing one of my passions but it’s a gift from God that I feel like I was chosen to express. Being African American, as well as female, can be so hard already, especially in such a competitive industry like Entertainment but I choose to do it with effort because it’s my heart and soul and I was made to shine my light and be a role model/inspiration for future generations after me.

What makes me different than other artists is my perspective of how music should be heard. As a young artist, I want to be able to bring the R&B genre in a new wave for my generation to appreciate it a bit more. I mainly focus on diving deep into my lyrics and making them hit home, not only for my age group but for everyone who just loves some good music for the soul! In 5 years, I see myself graduated from college, owning my very own entertainment company where not only my clients are being managed and reaching their creative goals whether it’s music, film, producing or directing but also having a multitalented group of individuals who believe in me reaching my goals as we can grow together to help our community.

I see myself thriving as a business woman with her masters degree and an artist with several creative backgrounds. Additionally, I want to use my artistry as a platform for outreach to help young artists just like me build their own businesses and become self sufficient in a corporate setting. I want to have Oscar nominated films that come from my production studio. Furthermore, I want people to know that even though I deal with Type 1 diabetes everyday of my life, my disease doesn’t define me or stop me from living up to my true potential every time I wake up in the morning.

I want it be known that I am not a statistic and I am just as hard working as others and even more dedicated to my craft of creating beautiful works of art as I learn and better myself daily. Knowing what I deal with on a day to day basis motivates me even MORE than other people may know because our time is limited here on this earth , so I definitely take advantage of every opportunity that I am granted whether it’s big or small; I appreciate every moment and continue to live out my dreams to the fullest. In the music world, I believe I haven’t even seen my own potential yet. I know I’m a beast at what I do and I bring so much life and new sound every time I record through the mic.

I’m hungry for more ideas and I enjoy seeking new ways to find my true voice and experience my sound to manifest to my audiences. As long as I’ve been living on this earth, I’ve been told that my voice is a healing component and that just motivates me even more to keep grinding and showing people who I am as a young artist just doing what she loves to do everyday.

I want to be remembered for not only my voice but for my kindness and compassion that can help change many lives, heal wounds and help people in amazing ways. The profound J.K. Rowling once said, “ How do you want to be remembered?

~As someone who did the best she could with the talent she had.“ I resonate with this quote greatly because I just want to be remembered for my music in a positive way that can make a great impact on individuals from all walks of life. I strive to be the best in everything I do and work my very hardest to achieve my dreams of being on top as a superstar!
