What’s your artist name and where are you from?
My artist name is Adam LaVerdiere. I’m from Central Maine, USA. (New England works, too.)
Why do you love music?
I love the way music brings people together. I heard once that instrumentals can speak more words to more people than the lyrics ever could. I’ve released some instrumentals, but I still love the way that even lyrics can connect to so many different people going through so many different seasons of life. Songs can mean so many things to so many different people, but when we listen to the music or go to the shows, we all share in that one moment together. There’s something special about that.
What makes you different as a music artist?
I try to write songs that people can relate to, but they’re all based off of things I’ve experienced in my own life. Sometimes, we can feel so isolated and like we’re the only ones going through something terrible (or good, for that matter). I think it’s nice to know and hear that other people aren’t that different than us and that we’re not alone in our thoughts and feelings, so I try to represent that well as an artist and songwriter.
Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
In the next five years, I see myself doing music full-time—a professional writer, producer and touring artist. My goal and aspiration is to write songs for myself and for others. I’d also like to have a more prominent role in the production of my own music while also be able to help other artists form and achieve the vision for their projects. I love the whole process of creating, so I’d love to be a part of any step along the way. Last, I have a huge heart for travel and bringing my music to other people personally. There’s something special about getting people together and sharing that moment. No one can take that away. Whether it’s a headline tour or I’m touring around as an opener, I see myself doing a national tour of some sort in five years.
What do you want to accomplish in life?
My mission is to encourage people that life is worth living and that finding hope and freedom is possible. Even just one person is worth it. If I could reach the end of my life/career and say that that took place, I would say that I accomplished my mission. For me, I find hope and freedom through my faith in Christ. I may not share the same view as many others, but I think we can all agree that the world needs more hope and more freedom. I’d like to help people find that.
What do you bring to the music world?
I bring authenticity to the music world. I think people are tired of pretty and perfect and need more real people being real people. I hope to be an artist that people feel like they can relate to. I don’t ever want to be seen as something I’m not. Social media does so much damage by often only showing the “highlights” of our lives. The reality is often so different. I’m guilty of this, too, but I’m aspiring to make that change and become more authentic in my feed and stories.
What do you want to be remembered by?
I don’t ever want people to doubt my character. I want to be trusted by people and do my best to avoid the drama that seems to go along with any sort of notoriety or fame. I want to have a real relationship with the people that choose to follow me on this music journey because I want them to be a part of it with me. My successes are their successes, and my failures and theirs. I want to be remembered by the moments that changed peoples’ lives.
