What is your name and what city do you rep?
Pryme Minister, I currently live in Florida but I am born and raised in Hartford Connecticut.
Tell us about your latest releases, what inspired you to create them?
My new song is titled “Kanye” (Jesus Wont Forsake US) because of my passion for truth and freedom. Sometimes it is mistaken for religion but it is far from that. My music has many of the contradictions we see in Kanye the artist, he always poppin his shit, but he loves Jesus, but he demands respect. So that was the vibe of this new song also making it clear Im a real nigga from the street who changed his life, and Trump is my Nigga because he is a man of the people.
What is unique about you and your music?
At the end of the day my flow is seasoned. I never sold my soul for fame and fortune but I have the talent to stand with the biggest and the best. I just refuse to compromise and use my music to support the prison industrial complex.
What shaped your music?
My view of the world. I read between the lines. I understand the world from a geo-political and spiritual point of view. Im not just another hood nigga trapped in the matrix. I see the plot.
When did you realize you were going to make music professionally?
I been doing this shit all my life. I have turned down many record contracts because I refuse to sell my soul for fame.
What type of music do you listen to?
I judge the quality of a rap artist not by their ability to be technical, I judge the quality of rap by the ability to effortless, flawless and authentic and real. Thats Pryme.
What inspires you to write music?
The drip… it comes from above. The music exist in the non-physical world its perfect. When it drops in my spirit, it create a restlessness, a type of frustration that I gotta get the song off my chest and talk my shit. Never motivated by sales.
What do you do when you don’t do music (creative or otherwise) and that you are passionate about?
Im a podcaster, I like to talk about life, God, politics, relationships and give the world my wisdom. I earned this shit through a pain life and righteousness. Im a warrior.
Happiness to you is…
I havent found happiness yet. (lol) Maybe its true love, only love I know is fake love, maybe its real friends, loyalty, success, abundance, victory. Im still pulling knives out of my back from the people I loved and helped the most. Im the realest nigga I know.
What do you wish you were told when you first started making music that you think would help artists just starting out?
I will take a quote from 50 Cent… “I’ll tell you want Banks to told me, said go ahead and switch the style up, and if they hate then let them hate and watch the money pile up”. I wish I was just a little more selfishness. It doesn’t pay to be too loyal sometimes.
