Exclusive Interview: Rising Artist Jarl Deejus Far

What 3 things does anyone starting in your industry needs to know?

First, you need a team that’s dedicated to providing everything you need to make quality content. Without a team, it’s hard to get as far as you need to go. Secondly, you need a marketing plan. There is no real success in the music industry without a real marketing plan. Find an avenue that works best for you & have your team push your music as far as it can go. Finally & most importantly, you need funds. Scared money don’t make no money, so with that being if you really believe in yourself, drop that bag. You can have all the talent in the world but without the proper funds to fuel your marketing schemes, it’ll be like you never dropped anything at all. So go hard for what you believe.

What would you do differently if you were starting in your industry now?

I would take my time & plan out my drops more efficiently. I have been in situations where I rushed my drops with no real plan cause I wanted it to be heard so bad. Sometimes you have to sit on your product until you have all you need to promote your craft to the masses.

Which people or books have had the most influence on your growth and why?

It’s quite a few people that influenced my growth, from family, friends, entertainers, etc. I genuinely learn from everyone I encounter in my everyday life (good & bad). But to name a few, people like Shawn Carter from a business standpoint, Andre Benjamin from a creator’s perspective, & Dr. Sebi from a healers point of view. All are completely different individuals but have help see the world in a more clear aspect. I try my best to keep learning from everyone though. You never know the knowledge someone might have if give them an opportunity to share. What has been your biggest success story? Why do you think it was a success?

I would have to say, moving out of my old neighborhood & being able to comfortably live on my own. Growing up in my old neighborhood was rough & there were times I thought I could have lost my life. But by the grace of God, I made a way. I can’t say I’m exactly where I wanna be but I’m definitely blessed to say the least. I just want to keep working so I can place myself in a position to help my peers make it out as well. That’s one of my lifetime goals.

What keeps you going when things get tough in the music industry?

Every single beauty soul that takes the time to listen to my music. They are the reason I keep going. In this field of work, we tend to get stagnant & feel there’s no real reason to keep going. But hearing feedback & people telling you they love your art & how you present it can really give you the motivation you need to really kickstart and/or get you back into your mode.

What made you pursue being an Artist full-time?

I’ve always loved music but never really wanted to be an Artist until I saw my friends doing it first. They made it look so easy that I thought, “Shid let me give it a try” lol. Wasn’t easy at first though, I was getting trashed & told to quit while I’m ahead. But that just made me wanna work harder & keep improving. Then one day, I went to the block & started battle rapping my peers & eventually turned me into rapper I am today. Then the artistry came over time which gave a lot of flavor to my music.

Would you sign to a label?

I’m not opposed to the idea, if it makes sense & the deal isn’t one that’ll leave me in a jam forever then I’m all for it.

What projects are you working on for the rest of 2024?

I’m just doing monthly single drops until I finish my album. Not gonna rush this one because I want it to drop when the time is right. Plus I have a catalog full of albums, EPs, & singles that you can check out. I have over 100 songs on streaming services so make sure to stream some Jarl Far while you’re here.
