What distinguishes you as an artist from other artist?
I feel what distinguishes me from other artists is there isn’t any comparisons, I don’t compare myself to anybody. I’m 100% me, I’m going to speak my mind, and I’m going to speak from my heart. I was created to be set apart to help usher in something new, I’m unique and have a special way of doing things.
Define success and what accomplishments do you feel you need to achieve to feel like you’ve achieved those accomplishments?
Success to me is having that ultimate freedom and reaching that place I see and know I’m at in my heart and mind. They say when you achieve goals you set out to do you’ve accomplished your purpose. I’m thankful and I’m very grateful always for certain things I set out to do even though it’s not on the level that I set out to do it on just yet. I’ve basically done some of it, like I remember reading magazines and articles wondering and thinking one day I’m going to be able to do that and now here we are having this interview and we just graced the cover of an International Music Magazine.
What message is you hoping to convey with this album ?
The message is just as the title to the album, to let the people know even though we don’t come from the best situations, and we didn’t go to the best schools or have a head start, we’re still here pushing forward and settling for nothing less than greatness. A lot of things came from the strength and love of GOD, Faith, and Family. I’m here to tell as many people as possible to keep hope, hold on to your dreams, and the things you’re hoping for no matter what your circumstances may be. The biggest message of all is really wanting the people to know GOD is real. I’m still fighting certain things, so that goes to say even though I’m going through certain things I’m still pushing my way through it, knowing struggles are to propel us not hinder us.
What strengths do you have that you believe makes you a great musician?
My strength is that I’m able to reach and touch different people. I done walked different paths in life and survived, so I can connect with people on different levels, paths, and walks of life and everybody can’t do that. I’m speaking what I saw, I’m speaking what I lived through, I’m speaking what I’ve experienced, I’m speaking on what I’m going though and living. A lot of people lack compassion and empathy. If a person doesn’t even have compassion, how can you even connect with people? You don’t have compassion for what they’re going through, been through, living or experienced. It’s a lot of people that lack self-confidence or feel they’re at the bottom. I’m here to let them know you’re not at the bottom, we’re the ones that’s really at the top.
What is the meaning behind the title All White (Feeling Godly)?
The title is just that “All White (Feeling Godly).” I feel like I’m renewed, I done walked through the fire, and The Father protected me with his Grace and Mercy. I’m clean, I don’t have a stain on me, I’m pure white as snow. When you have on that all white how do you feel? When you step out in your all white, you don’t want to get dirty. You try not to get anything on you. When you see that all white you think of Heavenly things. I’m feeling Godly, I’m looking Godly, knowing in his words he created us in his image. You’re feeling Powerful like it’s nothing you can’t accomplish.
What is it about the single that makes you feel so passionate?
Just as the song says, I’m feeling Godly, I’m feeling good, I’m feeling strong, I’m feeling powerful. I feel like I can overcome hinderances, roadblocks, or any other obstacles put in my way, We’re more than just conquerors. It was just so much I was going through and fighting through during that time period of recording this song. I felt I had to get certain words out and the words had to be heard because when I make music now, I’m understanding that not only am I making music for others but I’m making the music for me too. I feel that’s what makes me so passionate about it because it’s something that I know can’t nobody take from me. This is something I can have and I’m sharing it with the world when we release certain songs. I got a beat, I have a pen, I have paper and I can write it. I can get this out of me and that’s the passion behind it.
Describe your favorite and least favorite part about being a musician during the creative process of making music:
My favorite part is listening to the beat. Once I start getting a feeling, and I start having different things running through my mind when I’m listening to the beat, and start thinking about certain things, being able to create something off just a sound and you’re going off thoughts and different things that’s going on in your head of different experiences and multiple things that’s coming to you. That’s my favorite part and like I previously stated in the question before it’s something that you know can’t nobody take away from you, it’s just a feeling good, feeling. My least favorite part is getting it out exactly how it is in my head.
What’s the best piece of advice you can give to upcoming artist?
The best advice I can give to the upcoming artist is stay true to yourself, stay on your grind, and stay true to your path. Work on your craft best you can with whatever you have and don’t cater too much to what’s in the mainstream because it’s somebody somewhere looking for exactly what only you can offer. I would also like to add Be Original, and Stay Official, the best way to be is authentic. Don’t get discouraged over things just feel your way through it and don’t stop over anybody else misdeeds or mishandling. Always handle your business and get everything in writing or a contract especially if it’s a service involved because this can be a shady business but don’t let anybody break you down or make you give up. During these times we’re living in now keep your faith, look out for each other and stay focused. Finally, you make your own goals, so only you know when you’ve reached the top. Shoot past the stars and aim for galaxies.
