What is your name and what city do you rep?
Michael Watson Known as stage name Butta The Preacher. From Gary, Indiana.
Tell us about your latest releases, what inspired you to create them?
My latest release is my album My Story. My testimony and journey from being a former gang member to now a pastor inspired me to share my story with the world to help build a bridge between the streets and the church.
What is unique about you and your music?
My music is unique, because it’s sermons on beats. I’m giving out a secular sound but with biblical principals.
What shaped your music?
My experience with living street life help me become radical and transparent in my music. Me being shot 9 times and left for dead. Also being hit by a drunk driver needed reconstructive surgery on my face. And also have to deal with both of my little brothers being killed by gun violence in 2018 and 2019 made me more passionate about sharing my music to reach the younger generation.
When did you realize you were going to make music professionally? In 2017 I decided to make music apart of my ministry when I realized it will be a great method to get the message of Christ out.
What type of music do you listen to? I listen to all types of music.
I love the art of music.
What inspires you to write music?
God gives me certain words or subjects that stands out to me as I read or pray.
What do you do when you don’t do music (creative or otherwise) and that you are passionate about?
I’m passionate about my work as a philanthropist and owner of multiple business and now film making.
Happiness to you is…
Enjoying life with the people who means the most to you while seeing them happy.
What do you wish you were told when you first started making music that you think would help artists just starting out?
Budget before business.
Tell us about your upcoming projects…
I’m currently working on a feature film movie that will have soundtracks from my upcoming album My Story 2
Where do we find you music / music projects?
