Turning music into therapy, ‘Just Games’ is the brand new video to come from American Rapper LC The Poet. Telling the true story of a past relationship, ‘Just Games’ details the hurtful events with clarity that allows her vulnerability to shine through.
The video is due for release on the 22nd February, and is released ahead of LC The Poet’s highly anticipated upcoming EP. “It was challenging recording the vocals without stopping to take deep breaths because every time I recited a line, I in those moments relived what I went through with my ex.” explains LC The Poet who produced, recorded the audio, mixed and mastered ‘Just Games’ all in her home professional recording studio.
“Just Games.” explores themes of bittersweet love, the dichotomy between trying to make things work and giving up, and running out of chances. From personal experience, she conveys these messages over a creative melody with slow tempo and hip-hop influences. The song follows the relatable adventures of someone who is tired of the complications of a relationship and is done trying to make things work.
LC The Poet is a Hip-Hop artist who has been practicing her craft for over 14 years. Born and raised in Bronx, NY, she gets her inspiration from listening to emcees such as Nas, 2Pac, Rakim and other artists from the 80s and 90s era. Her sound delivers retro nostalgia with a mix of neo soul and jazz inflections. LC The Poet has an eclectic style that captivates new listeners to be inspired by her growth.
She has also shared stages with Jay-Z, Jay Electronica, J. Cole, Raekwon and more at the Brooklyn Hip Hop Festival and also has traveled to the Middle East to perform in different cities to expand her music.
