Edward Oviero, known by his preferred title “GEVO,” has emerged as a distinctive musical talent, blending his Colombian roots with his current Canadian home. In a recent interview, GEVO shared insights into his journey, motivations, and aspirations.
Born in Cali, Colombia, GEVO now resides in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, bringing a multicultural influence to his music. The artist, who discovered his passion for music through freestyling with his best friend’s older brother, boasts a versatile sound that sets him apart in the industry.
“People should read about me because I have a very unique sound that I have not heard yet in the music industry,” says GEVO. “I am very versatile when it comes to making music and am always open to trying new things and working with new people.”
Notable career highlights include GEVO’s recent achievement of reaching 20k views on his Instagram reel for the song “Not Around.” Despite this success, the artist acknowledges the challenges he faced, particularly in overcoming self-doubt and disregarding others’ opinions.
“In this world, everyone has a voice, and it’s up to you whether you want yours to be heard,” GEVO reflects on his journey.
Looking ahead, GEVO envisions establishing himself as a major artist in the industry, alongside launching his own clothing/merchandise line. His dreams include returning to his hometown of Cali, Colombia, to perform where it all began.
“I want these articles to bring more valuable connections in the industry,” GEVO expresses. “I want to work with people who will not only aid me in my career but teach me how to get to the next level.”
With the goal of reaching the right audience, GEVO aims for his music to resonate with the world. He invites listeners to explore his most recent track, “Cool as Shit,” and anticipates the release of his upcoming single and music video, “Running it up,” on January 28, 2024.
