DJ Khaled Lands Fourth No. 1 Album on Billboard 200 With ‘God Did’

DJ Khaled‘s GOD DID album has managed to nab the No. 1 spot on the Billboard 200 this week — but only by a tiny margin.

According to Billboard, the star-studded effort earned roughly 107,500 total album-equivalent units in its opening week, just ahead of Bad Bunny’s Un Verano Sin Ti, which reeled in 105,800 and has spent the last nine consecutive weeks in the coveted spot.

Khaled was elated by the news and celebrated in an Instagram video with his son Aalam.

“All Praise to the Most High!,” he wrote in the caption. “All Glory to GOD! GOD DID #1 @billboard album in the country! THIS GOD DID !!!!!!! @wethebestmusic @epicrecords @rocnation FAN LUV DID !!!!!!!!! THANK U !!!!!! @billboard #1!”

Elsewhere on the chart, Kendrick Lamar’s Mr. Morale and the Big Steppers jumped back into the Top 5 at around 54,000, enough to land at No. 4. Silk Sonic — the smooth duo of Bruno Mars and Anderson .Paak — and their debut, An Evening With Silk Sonic, also returned to the Top 10 with approximately 44,000 (up 509 percent).

As for GOD DID, the total was comprised of 96,000 SEA units (equaling 129.82 million on-demand official streams), 9,500 pure album sales and 2,000 TEA units. The project featured 31 guests, 16 of which have previously topped the Billboard 200, including Drake, Eminem, Future, JAY-Z, Jadakiss, Lil Baby and Travis Scott.

GOD DID serves as Khaled’s 10th Top 10-charting album and fourth to hit No. 1. He previously led the list with Khaled Khaled (2021), Grateful (2017) and Major Key (2016).

JAY-Z’s verse off the album’s title track has been the talk of town for the past week. In a recent Twitter Spaces conversation between Hov, Khaled, and Rob Markman, the Roc-A-Fella mogul said pulling off a song of this magnitude is never easy.

“Congratulations on an amazing album,” JAY-Z told Khaled. “People think it’s easy. It’s not easy to put all these people together and get greatness out of ’em — deal with so many egos. ‘Cause everybody wanna be the best and everybody’s trying to be, you know, whatever, whatever it is.”

JAY-Z continued: “It’s an amazing display of unity. It feels like an All Star game when these albums come out; it’s a beautiful time for the culture. Everybody’s tapped in and tuned in. No matter what they tell you, they all tapped in and they all tuned in and everybody wanna be on them joints too. Believe that.”

Hov’s longtime engineer Young Guru ignited a viral moment when he revealed the Marcy legend spit his almost four-minute verse for DJ Khaled’s new album in a single go.

Even though Hov himself admitted he didn’t quite do it in one take, Guru has doubled down on his claim, sharing photographic evidence of the feat.
