It’s amazing how many talented artists there are from Chicago, but Chicago artist Color. is on another level with talent & versatility! S.N.B.JR. Records’s latest signee Color. (also known as “Color. the artist”) was raised in Chicago and has been writing poetry, rapping, singing, and playing instruments since the age of 8. She has influences like Andre 3000, Erykah Badu, Notorious B.I.G., CeeLo Green, and more, and she aims to bring the same type of creativity with art and music that exudes as she expresses herself in her art.
Color.’s latest release includes her EP “3 Flavors (EP)”: https://www.snbjrrecords.com/color3flavorsep. “3 Flavors (EP)” has 3 songs and exemplifies 3 different styles & genres, or “flavors” from Color. The meaning of the name Color. is that she grew up listening in-depth to many very different genres, and just as there are many different colors, she has many different styles.
She subconsciously pulls from many different genres as they all tie together with her message of love, hope, and expressing her feelings and thoughts. The EP features an afrobeat song “See Myself,” a Pop/R&B track “Given” which is a standout on the project and is currently in rotation on Chicago’s NPR 91.1 FM Vocalo radio and even a radio station on the east coast! The EP’s last track ‘Taste” features Color. rapping over a remix of XXXtentacion’s Riot with consistent, yet diverse flows.
“3 Flavors (EP)” comes after Color.’s recent accomplishments such as being selected as a “Rising Star” at showcase by Lyrical Lemonade Summer Smash (out of over 500 contestants), embarking on her first Midwest tour with the legendary Sofar Sounds organization (known for providing opportunities to Brent Fiyaz, Ed Sheeran, and Billie Eilish’s early career), has had her music reposted by Fat Joe, and has amassed over half a million streams! She loves to keep improving in every way as an artist and has even been taking vocal lessons by H.E.R & Alicia Keys’ vocal coach.
