Santa Rosa, CA — Independent artist Marxx is lighting the path for his upcoming concept album Homeless with the release of his new single Imagination Land — a bold and introspective track aimed at sparking curiosity and building momentum before the album drops.
Hailing from Santa Rosa, a lesser-known region of California’s famed wine country, Marxx is determined to carve out a space for artists from areas often overlooked by the mainstream music industry. “There are no major industry connections here,” he explains, “so I’m building that bridge myself.”
Marxx, also known by his production and engineering alias TheCartunest, is no stranger to the grind. He’s been creating, producing, and releasing music independently for over 12 years. His earlier work includes the track Coupe featuring Derek King (from his 2021 album XMarxTheSpot), and Talk My Shit featuring Florida artist Bones — a track that has resonated on SoundCloud since 2016.
Now, with Homeless, Marxx dives into a theme rarely touched with such vulnerability in hip-hop: the many definitions of being “homeless.” “It’s not always just about living on the street,” Marxx says. “Some of us are constantly on tour, couch-surfing, or simply can’t afford rent — but we’re still creating, still surviving, still dreaming.”
The album aims to inspire listeners to see hardship as fuel for greatness. And with Imagination Land, a track infused with emotion, truth, and sonic innovation, Marxx delivers a powerful glimpse into what’s to come.
A proud member of the New York-founded music collective Buckgang (alongside H3adshott, Jbuck, and SagerStudios), Marxx continues to push boundaries with his anime-inspired aesthetics and internationally geared sound — all without label backing.
As an artist representing California’s North Bay, Marxx acknowledges the legends before him — E-40, Too Short, Iamsu, G-Eazy, Kehlani — but he’s clear on his mission: “I want to take Santa Rosa to the world stage. This is bigger than me. This is for every unheard voice out here.”
