Flint, Michigan, a city often synonymous with resilience, has a burgeoning music scene, and among its promising talents is BNBTezz. Just a year ago, BNBTezz wasn’t entirely serious about his music. However, as people began recognizing his talent, he started to take his craft seriously.
A Natural Talent Emerges
BNBTezz’s journey into music was not one he initially intended to pursue seriously. “I wasn’t taking it seriously at first, then people started telling me I was good at rapping, so I started taking it serious,” he reflects. His gravitation towards hip-hop and rap was natural, but his versatility is something he promises will be evident in future releases. This promise of diversity sets him apart, indicating a potential to appeal to a wide range of listeners.
Musical Roots and Influences
Though primarily a rapper, BNBTezz’s musical roots run deeper. He can play parts of songs on the piano and spent a significant part of his childhood playing the drums. These skills hint at a foundational understanding of music that likely enhances his rap compositions.
When it comes to influences, BNBTezz cites a mix of contemporary and impactful artists. “X, Juice, Hotboii, and Babytron fasho, Babytron and Hotboii are probably my two most played artists,” he says. This blend of influences from late legends and current heavyweights shapes his sound, giving it a unique edge.
The Grind and the Growth
Currently, BNBTezz has two songs available on all streaming platforms. Despite the limited discography, he understands the rigorous grind required in the music industry. “Music is much more of a grind than people think. If you don’t put full time into it, you won’t see your potential for real,” he explains. This dedication was tested by his fear of public reception, a common hurdle for many emerging artists. “I was really scared to drop for a while because I see big artists get hate all the time, and I’m not nowhere near their level, so I didn’t even want to imagine what people would say about me. But, that’s something that comes with chasing your dreams.”
Once he overcame this fear, his confidence soared. He records everything from home, a testament to his DIY ethic. “When I made ‘Late at Night,’ that was like a 20-minute session. I found the beat, downloaded it, and just ran with it for real.”
Collaboration and Future Plans
An encounter with Jay, a Flint producer known for his work with KrispyLife Kidd, marked a significant moment in BNBTezz’s journey. Meeting Jay during his second studio session was a cool experience that likely provided valuable industry insights and connections.
Looking ahead, BNBTezz is working on an EP, though details remain under wraps. Fans can expect new singles to drop before the EP, with no set dates yet but a promise of more music “coming soon.” This anticipation builds excitement around his growing catalog and potential.
BNBTezz’s story is one of raw talent, fearlessness, and relentless work ethic. As he continues to hone his craft and expand his musical repertoire, he stands poised to make a significant mark on the hip-hop scene, not just in Flint but beyond. Keep an eye out for this versatile artist who is ready to showcase his full potential.
