UPDATES: After President Donald Trump tweeted that he was personally calling Swedish PM Stefan Lofven, the Prime Minister has responded.
According to NBC reports he was aware that Trump “has a personal interest in the case” but went on to say that if a call between the two were to happen he would “explain that the Swedish judicial system is independent. In Sweden, everyone is equal before the law, and this includes visitors from other countries.”
ORIGINAL STORY: Recently, a Swedish judge ruled A$AP Rocky as a flight risk, so he wouldn’t be allowed out of jail while his case continues. Since then, Donald Trump has gotten involved and claims he is working on getting the rapper out of jail.
Via Twitter, Trump said “Just had a very good call with @SwedishPM Stefan Lofven who assured me that American citizen A$AP Rocky will be treated fairly. Likewise, I assured him that A$AP was not a flight risk and offered to personally vouch for his bail.” He also said, “our teams will be talking further, and we agreed to speak again in the next 48 hours!”
