My name is Verlin Alsina Jr. Artist name VKA$H. I am coming out of the Inland Empire CA, I was born in Riverside CA, and Raised in Rialto CA. And have lived in just about every city in the Inland empire.
Q: What’s your most memorable moment of last year (2022)?
My most memorable moment of 2022 was making it to top 10 in the worldwide Dj Khaled competition. I had a record submitted to no jumper that they said was a hit record and got a lot of attraction. But I think the most encouraging thing that happen to me in 2022 was I found out who I was. I realized my skill set and how I could improve my sound. I studied the greats, I learned to train my ears. I learned that music is more than just words it is emotions, you must tap into your emotions which means you can’t be afraid of being vulnerable. That’s what’s separates the greats from the rest. And I have no intentions on being anything less. Also, being true to who you are, will take you further than you can ever imagine. So by the grace of God I found myself. And now it’s time to share it with the world. I have been through every emotion possible with music. But now I stand on solid ground and I’m ready to hit the ground running. “If God Is For us, Who Can Be Against us?”
Romans 8:31
Q: What’s the meaning behind your latest track and its title?
My lates single “changes” dropping 6/7/2023 from my new Album God’s Time, is about how my relationship with God has grown, and how that has challenged me to change my ways to be an example for my children and for my people. I want to be an inspiration to this generation, by showing them by example the right way, I know that this world has us fooled into thinking there is only one way to the top, well I’m here to show that a believer in Jesus Christ can reach limits unknown with faith, and a hard work ethic anything is achievable. A lot of people have a hard time believing what they can’t see, but God has already shown me what is to come and now it’s time for preparation. God’s Time Album Dropping 7/7/2023. Album of 2023!
Q: Any upcoming projects? That you can speak on…
My upcoming Album “God’s Time” will be releasing July 7th 2023, it has a variety of different unique sounds, thats conveys my versatility as a rapper while uplifting our creator and sending a message to his people. I am excited to present this project to the world as I know for sure that this masterpiece is Grammy Material. And I know that this will definitely go down as one of the greatest albums in history.
Q: What goals would you like to accomplish this year?
In the following year with Hard work and consistency, I plan to take over the rap game by storm, while sharing the gospel, and my life experiences to help reach the youth, and the people hurting around the world. Just know I feel your pain, and I hear your cries, I just want to inspire those who will take the time to listen. And encourage them to never give up, because God will never give up on you.
Q: If you could collaborate with any artist, who would that be?
Truth be told I want to become the artist that make people want to collaborate with me based off my hard work, talent, and creativity. I am not looking for handouts from anyone, only opportunities. So I’m praying that my voice is heard across the nation and draws the attention of someone or someone’s who see’s my vision and direction. I only want who God wants for me, that is all.
Q: At the end of the day, all artists have something that drives them. What’s your daily motivation?
My daily motivation, is my vision from God, my family, more specifically my children, my mother & fiancé. I am from a city where not a lot of people make it out. We get overshadowed by the city of Los Angeles, but if people only knew the talent that is in our city. So I do it for them. I pray God opens doors no man can close, and once I get my foot in, I can lead others in the right direction. I want to see how the other side lives, I have to, there is no other option. I will make it, too much depends on it. And I accept that role and I move by faith knowing God already has it all worked, I just have to stay the course.
Q: When did you realize you were going to make music professionally?
I have always had the ability to freestyle since high school, it came natural but back then it was just fun, in the middle of the quad, in the back of the school bus and in theater class. And then when I became an infantryman in the army in 2013, I would freestyle amongst my peers and leaders often, and they would praise me and commend me. But still it was for fun, it wasn’t until I got out in 2018/2019 and I was working for a company called uline, that I began rapping seriously. Then day after day, night after night my passion and burning desire for music really began to transpire and that’s when I knew, this was it this was my calling. And I have dedicated thousands of dollars and hours to the craft. And I never plan on giving it up. Sometimes you just know when somethings for you. I have grown so much support from family, friends and strangers and I am forever grateful. And I realize so many people are seeing the vision now and that’s a complete blessing. I just want to make people believe in the gospel of Jesus Christ and save and help as many people as I can in the process. Through an art that has been so corrupted, Time to revive HipHop culture.
